Bernie is a facilitator and coach. During his career he has led teams in the New Zealand dairy industry (NZ Dairy Board, NZ Dairy Co.), and the IT industry (Digital, Mastersoft, Unisys), in a range of sales and marketing roles. Since 2000, he has worked with Australasian public and private sector clients to improve individual and team performance by changing conversations. Bernie has a strong facilitative style and challenges clients’ thinking about themselves, the future and how to execute change. He emphasises simplicity and focus. The scope of his work has covered leadership development, building trust-based relationships, compelling communication of complex ideas, change and high performance teams. He has an enduring interest in innovation, and has been involved in a number of innovative projects.
He has a BSc. (Honours) from Canterbury University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Food Science & Technology (Distinction) from Massey University. He is an accredited coach with Human Synergistics (GSI/LSI) and NLP Practitioner.
Bernie has four grown children and a wife that he likes hanging out with. His interests include acting; he’s been an active student for several years, and has appeared in a number of theatre productions. To recharge, Bernie finds nothing better than getting away from it all - throwing a pack on his back and spending a few days somewhere high on a ridge in beautiful New Zealand (especially Kahurangi). He’s also an avid Liverpool AFC fan.
